FAQ

How to measure body weight?

A Body Fat Analyzer can be used to measure body fat. These devices can be used to measure body fat percentages in people who are trying to lose weight.

What is the difference in fat and sugar?

Fat is an energy source from food. Sugar is a sweet substance found naturally in fruits and vegetables. Both fats and sugars provide the same number of calories. Fats however, have more calories than sugars.

Fats are stored in the body and contribute to obesity. They cause cholesterol buildup in arteries which may lead to heart attacks and strokes.

Sugars are quickly absorbed by the body and provide instant energy. This causes blood glucose levels rise. High blood glucose levels can lead to type II diabetes.

Is being cold bad for your immune system?

It's been said that there are two kinds of people in the world; those who love winter and those who hate it. You may wonder why you feel so bad when it's cold, regardless of whether you love it or hate it.

The reason is simple: Our bodies are made to function well in warm temperatures. Our bodies were designed to thrive in hot weather because this is where the majority of our food sources are.

However, our environment is quite different than that of our ancestors. We spend more time indoors, are exposed to extreme temperatures (cold/heat), and eat processed food rather than fresh.

Our bodies aren’t accustomed to such extremes. When we do venture out, our bodies are unable to cope with the extremes.

However, there are ways to counter these effects. Keep your body hydrated. If you drink plenty of water, you'll help keep your body properly hydrated and flush toxins from your system.

It is important to eat healthy foods. Eating nutritious foods helps your body maintain its optimal temperature. This is especially beneficial for those who spend extended periods of time inside.

It is worth taking a few extra minutes each day to meditate. Meditation is a great way to relax your body and mind. It makes it easier for you to cope with stress and illness.

How can you live your best life every day?

It is important to identify what makes you happy. You can then work backwards once you know what makes YOU happy. Asking other people how they live their best lives every day is also a good idea.

Dr. Wayne Dyer's book "How to Live Your Best Life" is also available. He talks about how to find happiness and fulfillment at all stages of our lives.

Antibiotics are drugs which destroy harmful bacteria. Antibiotics can be used to treat bacterial infection. There are many different types of antibiotics. Some are given orally, while some are injected. Other antibiotics are applied topically.

People who have been exposed may be prescribed antibiotics. One example is if someone has had chickenpox and wants to prevent shingles. An injection of penicillin may be necessary to prevent pneumonia if someone has strep.

How To

What does "vitamin" actually mean?

Vitamins are organic compounds naturally found in food. Vitamins allow us to absorb nutrients from food. Vitamins are not made by the body, so they must be obtained through food.

There are two types: water-soluble and fat-soluble vitamins. Water-soluble vitamins dissolve quickly in water. Some examples include vitamin C,B1 and B2 vitamins (thiamine), B2 and riboflavin, B3 and B6 vitamins (niacin), folic acids, biotin, pantothenic acids, and cholesterol. The liver and fatty tissues are home to fat-soluble vitamins. These include vitamin D, E and K, as well as beta carotene.

Vitamins are classified according their biological activity. There are eight major vitamin groups:

  • A - vital for healthy growth.
  • C - important for proper nerve function and energy production.
  • D – Essential for healthy teeth, bones and joints
  • E - needed for good vision and reproduction.
  • K - essential for healthy muscles, nerves, and bones.
  • P - Essential for strong bones and teeth.
  • Q - Aids in digestion and absorption.
  • R - necessary for making red blood cells.

The recommended daily allowance (RDA) of vitamins varies depending on age, gender, and physical condition. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration, (FDA), sets the RDA value.

For example, the RDA for vitamin A is 400 micrograms per dayfor adults 19 years or older. For fetal development, pregnant women need 600 mg per day. Children ages 1-8 require 900 micrograms per day. Babies under one-year old require 700 mg per day. Between 9 and 12 years of age, however, this drops to 500 mg per day.

Children aged 1-18 years need 800 micrograms daily, while children overweight require 1000 micrograms per days. Children who are severely obese or underweight will need 1200 micrograms each day.

2200 mg of vitamin A per day is required for children aged 4-8 who have been diagnosed by anemia.

2000 micrograms per person is necessary for general health. Breastfeeding or pregnant women require 3000 micrograms per daily due to higher nutrient demands.

1500 micrograms is the recommended daily intake for adults aged 70+, who lose approximately 10% of muscle each year.

Women who have been pregnant or are lactating require more than the RDA. Pregnant mothers need 4000 micrograms per daily during pregnancy and 2500 after giving birth. Breastfeeding mothers need 5000 micrograms per day when breast milk is being produced.
